Cookies «Khvorost» are familiar, probably, to each of us. In our family it is always prepared according to this recipe, as a result of inexpensive and available products we get a lot of quite tasty cookies.
Constituents:
- kefir – 0,5 liters .
- eggs – 2 pcs.
- baking soda, quenched with vinegar – 0,5 tsp.
- salt – 0,5 tsp.
- sugar – 3-4 tbsp.
- powdered sugar – optional
- flour – about 3-4 tbsp.
- vegetable oil for frying
Preparing the khvorost:
Beat eggs into kefir, add salt, baking soda and sugar. The amount of sugar can be increased or decreased, depending on preference. If the ready «pineapple» will be sprinkled with powdered sugar, you can put less sugar. Mix everything well and add sifted flour. The amount of flour in the recipe is indicated approximately, because the flour should be added until the dough stops sticking to your hands.
On a flour-dusted table, roll out a piece of dough about 5 mm thick. The thickness of rolling depends on your preferences: if you roll thinner – the cookies will be more crispy, and if thicker – more rubbery. I like the second option better, and my household – both.
Cut the rolled out dough into strips about 4 cm wide, then cut each strip across into several rhombuses.
Make a notch in the center of each rhombus, and thread the top corner of the rhombus through the hole you made, as shown in the photo.
Pour vegetable oil into a heated frying pan, so that it becomes like a fryer and «pineapple» can be dipped in the oil. Fry on both sides until browned.
Finished «pineapple», if desired, you can sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Bon appetit!
