Onion rolls from cottage cheese dough
Soft buns with a slightly moist crumb and a nice light onion flavor. They take 30 minutes to make and are a great substitute for bread for soup or sandwiches.
Constituents:
- 0% cottage cheese - 250 gr.
- milk - 100 ml
- flour - 500 gr.
- eggs - 2 pcs.
- salt - 2 tsp.
- vegetable oil - 9 tbsp.
- leavening agent - 1 sachet
- onion - 1 large piece
- egg yolk - 1 piece .
- milk - 1 tbsp.
Cooking:
In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese with milk, eggs, 8 tbsp. of oil and salt (if the cottage cheese is very wet, it should be previously thrown on a sieve to drain off the whey).
Mix sifted flour with baking powder, add it to the curd mixture and knead the dough.
Peel the onions, chop finely and fry in the remaining oil until golden brown.
After that, cool the onions, add them to the batter and mix well.
Divide the dough into 12-14 equal pieces. From each piece, form a sausage about 15 cm long and roll up a plait.
Add a braid to the dough.
Line a baking tray with baking paper. Place the buns on the baking tray and brush with 1 tbsp of milk and 1 tbsp of egg yolk. Bake the buns until ready in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius - about 20-25 minutes.
Enjoy!
