Pickled herring
One of the herring marinade options. It's tasty and slightly savory. The fish has a slight sweetish tinge to it, which is quite unusual, but still interesting and tasty.
Composition:
- lightly salted herring – 3 pcs.
- leek – 1 stalk
- bay leaf – 1 piece .
- onion – 2 pcs.
- sugar – 100 gr.
- Pepper – 2 tsp.
- mustard seeds – 2 tsp.
- small piece of horseradish root – 1 piece.
- white wine vinegar – 300 ml .
Preparation of pickled herring:
Clean herring from skin and bones, divide into fillets and cut into 2 cm wide slices.
And cut herring into 2 cm wide slices.
In a saucepan, bring 150ml of water and the sugar to the boil. Add the pepper, mustard seeds and bay leaf, pour in the vinegar, allow to boil, turn off and cool.
Allow to cool.
Slice the onions and leeks into thin rings.
Peel and chop the horseradish root.
Put the herring, onion and horseradish in a glass bowl. Fill with the marinade and put in the refrigerator for 2 days.
