Capelin in tomato sauce
Preparing capelin is very simple, but some time is spent cleaning the fish. It tastes a bit like canned fish in tomato sauce. It can be served both hot and cold.
.
Composition:
- capelin – 1 kg
- tomato paste – 3 tbsp.
- tomato sauce - 4 tbsp.
- 9% vinegar - 1 tbsp.
- vegetable oil – 4 tbsp.
- salt, sugar – to taste
- bay leaf and black pepper
Cooking capelin in tomato sauce:
Clean the capelin by ripping off the heads and cleaning the inside. Be sure to remove the black film inside, which can be bitter.
Put the capelin in a dish with the backs facing up.
Mix together the vegetable oil, tomato sauces and seasonings, if the sauce is very thick add a few spoons of water.
Pour sauce over capelin and braise over medium heat until cooked – about 40 minutes.
It can be served both hot and cold. Mashed potatoes will be a good garnish.
Bon appetit!
