Draniki (deruny)
Draniki or deruny is a Ukrainian dish in the form of fritters made of grated potatoes. They are served with sour cream, sauce with mushrooms, etc. Simple and tasty, though quite caloric.
Composition:
- large potatoes - 3-4 pcs.
- egg - 1 pc.
- onion - 1 pc.
- salt, pepper - to taste
- starch - 3 tbsp. (as needed)
- sunflower oil for frying
Preparation of drayniki (deruns):
Peel the potatoes and onions and grate them on the finest grater. If desired, you can not grate the vegetables, but chop them in a blender or with a meat grinder. If the potatoes are very juicy, drain the excess liquid that will be released.
Add egg, salt and pepper to the resulting mass to taste. If the mass is still very liquid, add starch and mix well.
Heat sunflower oil in a skillet and spread 1 tbsp of the potato mixture in fritter form.
Once the pancakes are browned, flip and fry the second side until browned.
Serve hot with sour cream, mushroom sauce or other sauce as desired.
