Jamie Oliver's cider pork stew with potatoes
A simple, affordable and very homemade dish. This recipe is a variation of the usual stew, complete with a layer of potatoes. The dish is very flavorful and hearty. The recipe is from Jamie Oliver's book "Ministry of Food".
Composition:
- celery stalks - 1 pcs.
- onion - 1 piece - medium size
- carrot - 1 piece
- vegetable oil
- flour - 0,5 tbsp.
- tomatoes in their own juice - 200 gr.
- pork - 250 gr.
- semi-dry cider - 250 ml
- medium-sized potatoes - 300 gr.
- salt, freshly ground pepper - to taste
Cooking:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Dice the pork into 2cm cubes.
Chop the celery, onion and carrots coarsely. Put the pot on medium heat, pour a little vegetable oil in it, put the vegetables and spicy herbs and fry for 10 minutes.
Add the meat and flour and stir to combine.
Pour in the cider.
Add the tomatoes and mash them with a fork.
Salt and season the stew with salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
Cover the pot with a lid and put it in the oven for 2.5 hours. Remove the lid for the last half an hour of stewing.
And remove the lid.
Peel the potatoes and boil them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Then drain the water and cool the potatoes slightly.
Place the stew in a baking dish. Cut potatoes into 1 cm thick slices and put them on the stew.
Drizzle the potatoes with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper and bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes.
And bake in a preheated oven for 40 minutes.
